MOSCOW, September 25 Federation Council at a meeting on Monday appointed senator from the executive branch of the Kurgan region Elena Perminova to the position of chairman of the social policy committee.
Previously, Perminova held the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Financial Markets. Perminova has represented the Kurgan region in the Federation Council since 2014. Her powers were extended in 2019 until 2024, according to the chamber’s website. It is noted that before her appointment as a senator, she held the position of deputy governor of the region — head of the financial department.
The Federation Council also approved a number of first deputy chairmen of committees.
So, the former head of the Federal Customs Service, senator from the executive branch of the Ivanovo region, Vladimir Bulavin, was elected first deputy of the committee on defense and security.
In addition, Galina Karelova, a senator from the executive branch of the Voronezh region, became the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure. Before being reappointed to the position of senator, she served as vice speaker of the upper house.
Olga Zabralova, a senator from the executive branch of the Moscow region, was re-elected as First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy.
Irina Rukavishnikova was elected first deputy chairman of the constitutional committee, who held this position until her re-election following the 2023 elections. Rukavishnikova was also elected to the position of plenipotentiary representative of the chamber in the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.
The following senators also retained their posts: Sergei Ryabukhin — first deputy head of the budget committee, Vladimir Gorodetsky — first deputy head of the federal structure committee, and Ivan Abramov — first deputy head of the economic policy committee.
The post of Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction was taken by the former holder of this post, Andrei Klishas, a newly appointed senator from the executive branch of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. He was also reassigned to the position of plenipotentiary representative of the Federation Council in the Prosecutor General's Office.
