
MOSCOW, September 26 World Space Week, dedicated to the day of the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, will be held from October 4 to 10 at the Museum of Cosmonautics, it is reported on the official website of the mayor and government of Moscow.
“From October 4 to October 10, the Museum of Cosmonautics will host World Space Week. It is timed to coincide with the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite and is held annually. This year, the museum has prepared more than 15 events for guests, including concerts, excursions, film screenings, lectures and quests,” — the message says.
On the first day, a space quest through the exhibition will begin, which will last until October 10. To participate, you need to walk through the halls of the museum, find signs with QR codes, read a list of questions and answer them, studying the exhibits and their descriptions, which will become a hint. You can prepare for the quest at the lecture “The Beginning of the Space Age,” dedicated to the first years of space exploration.
In addition, on the same day, the “Say Cosmic Greetings!” campaign will take place, in which participants will be able to send themed postcards directly from the museum for free. They will be decorated with famous Soviet posters with models of satellites, which the museum curators specially selected from the collection for this purpose. There will also be an all-Russian physical and technical test “Come Out and Decide!” This is a large-scale event aimed at popularizing science and education in Russia. Guests will solve tasks in mathematics, physics, computer science and biology; for the best results they will receive special prizes.
This day will also mark the 90th anniversary of the launch of the Soviet hybrid rocket GIRD-09. The head of the scientific and methodological department, Yulia Kostina, will talk about the famous Jet Propulsion Research Group (GIRD), an association of young designers, about Sergei Korolev and the flight of the first domestic rocket.
“On October 6, there will be a curatorial tour of this year’s main museum exhibition, “Museum of Cosmonautics. Model for assembly.» Guests will see items from new acquisitions, and will also learn about the formation of the museum collection. The curator will guide visitors through the main exhibits, talk about the work of the collections department, the history of acquisition and museum curators,» the message says.
As part of World Space Week, on October 7, the “Heavenly Symphony” concert will be held, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the “Amaravella” group of cosmist artists. Spectators will be presented with paintings to the accompaniment of classical music. Laureate of international competitions, pianist Daria Kirillova will perform works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Scriabin and Mikalojus Čiurlionis.
It is noted that on the final day, October 10, a series of film screenings of the Roscosmos state corporation will take place. Guests will be shown films about how to become an astronaut, how to live in space, why it is necessary to conquer distant worlds, and what the future awaits man in space.
