The First Court of Appeal in Moscow approved the verdict of politician Alexei Navalny and the technical director of the YouTube channel “Navalny LIVE” Daniel Kholodny, reports a Mediazona correspondent.
On August 4, the Moscow City Court at an off-site hearing in the IK- 6 in the Vladimir region sentenced Navalny to 19 years in a special regime colony for an “extremist case” and a 500 thousand ruble fine, and Kholodny to eight years in a general regime colony.
Navalny was found guilty of calls for extremism,creation of an NPO that infringes on the rights of citizens ,financing of extremism,creation of an extremist community,involving minors in committing dangerous actsand rehabilitation of Nazism.
Before this, Navalny was already serving a 9-year sentence in another criminal case. Most of the time in IK-6 he is either in a punishment cell or in a cell-type room (PKT). The politician said that for several months, Vladimir Putin’s February message to the Federal Assembly was played to him every day in the evening.
Former technical director of the YouTube channel “Navalny LIVE” Daniel Kholodny was found guilty of financing extremist activities (Part 2 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code) and participation in the activities of an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code).
Navalny’s associates got acquainted with 196 volumes of the criminal case. According to FBK director Ivan Zhdanov, most of the materials are screenshots of publications in the personal and work social networks of the oppositionist’s supporters, screenshots of websites, as well as other pictures that are not related to the politician. On one of the sheets from the case materials there was a screenshot of a blank browser page with the investigator’s bookmarks: “Boiled omelet”, “Vegetable dishes”, “Patterns for fat people”. The file also contains photographs of a notebook with empty sheets.
