YEKATERINBURG, September 26 A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Sverdlovsk region due to forest fires, the information policy department reported on Tuesday in the Telegram channel.
“Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev introduced a regional emergency regime in the forests. In accordance with the decree signed by the head of the region, the emergency regime begins to operate on September 26,” the release says.
It is noted that the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Denis Mamontov, has been appointed head of the emergency response, and maintaining an emergency regime in the forests makes it possible to attract the maximum possible resources, including the federal level, to eliminate wild fires. The last time the state of emergency in the forests of the region was introduced on July 13, it was canceled on July 27.
According to the latest data from Avialesookhrana, in the Sverdlovsk region on Tuesday, September 26, there are 22 fires on forest lands covering an area of 311 hectares.
Earlier, Kuyvashev called the situation due to natural fires in the region critical. At the beginning of May, the evacuation of residents began in several towns and villages of different municipalities, and a state of emergency was introduced in a number of districts. Then the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, stated that the Sverdlovsk region was one of the most “burning” subjects of the Russian Federation, where the number of fires increased by 1.5 times compared to last year.
Also, one of the largest fires in the region occurred in mid-July in the village of Shaidurikha, where the fire destroyed 41 buildings and “traversed” an area of 4.1 thousand “squares”; as a result of the incident, a 71-year-old woman died.
