The Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow fined the former head of Yandex.News Lev Gershenzon under the protocol for violating the activities of a “foreign agent.” The corresponding resolution was published on the website of the Moscow courts.
Gershenzon was found guilty of four publications without the label of “foreign agent” in a telegram channel in May and June 2023 (Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Administrative Code). Information about the amount of the fine was not indicated in the resolution; the press service of the court did not respond to Mediazona’s request.
Gershenzon was declared a “foreign agent” on March 10 of this year, along with economist Sergey Guriev, former State Duma deputy Gennady Gudkov , blogger Nika Vodwood, journalist Daniil Gubarevys, as well as WWF and the Free Buryatia Foundation.
Today, Moscow courts imposed fines of 40 thousand rubles on the ex-player of the “What? Where? When?» and journalist Rovshan Askerov, as well as sociologist and editor-in-chief of the Rabkor publication Boris Kagarlitsky, who is in pre-trial detention center in the case of justifying terrorism, due to the lack of “foreign agent” markings in publications. The court in Pskov fined Denis Kamalyagin, the editor-in-chief of the local publication Pskovskaya Guberniya, for the third time under a similar protocol.
