MOSCOW, September 28, Vlad Zhukov. Former doctor of the Russian figure skating team Philip Shvetsky said that he feels “social responsibility” in the doping history of the Olympic champion Kamila Valieva.
Valieva's doping test, taken during the Russian Championship in December 2021, gave a positive result for trimetazidine. This information became known after the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, where Valieva won a gold medal as part of the Russian team. She was able to compete in the individual tournament, where she finished fourth, but her case for a potential anti-doping rule violation is currently being heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Shvetsky at that time worked with Eteri Tutberidze, with whom Valieva trains.

«Why do I say that I am to blame for the situation with Valieva? Well, because it is my fault that the situation basically happened. This is in some way a social responsibility, that’s the point,” — said Shvetsky.
The doctor added that he is not afraid that he will be made a scapegoat in this story.
“
“Yes, you know, they’ve already done that. As for the version about the glass, this is a version based on facts,” Shvetsky noted.
According to one version, the prohibited substance could have entered Valieva’s body from a glass with the remains of her grandfather’s medicine.
