A loader from Tver had his sentence reduced in the case of preparing to set fire to a military registration and enlistment office; he said that he was forced to admit guilt under torture

The military court of appeal reduced the sentence from six to four years and ten months in a maximum security colony for loader Ivan Kudryashov, convicted in the case of preparing to set fire to a military registration and enlistment office in Tver. This was reported by SOTA with reference to the lawyer of the convicted person.

On June 20, the 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced the Tver resident to six years in prison — he was found guilty of preparing for a terrorist attack (part 1 of article 205 with the use of part 1 of the article 30 CC). According to investigators, the convict was preparing to set fire to the local military registration and enlistment office using Molotov cocktails.

As SOTA writes, during a hearing in the court of appeal, the aggravating point about the use of weapons, which, according to investigators, were incendiary bottles, was removed from the charge mixture.

In October, Kudryashov was detained by FSB officers; he later said that the security forces took him “to an unknown place” and tortured him. In particular, because of his refusal to sign documents, the Tver resident’s legs were tied with tape and they began to torture him with electric shock.

“They pulled down my pants, leaving me in a lying position, and, leaving me in my underpants, they began to shove an unknown object into the back of my butt. Realizing that this was already the extreme that I could withstand, I began to answer their questions and after receiving all the answers they needed, they sat me down with my legs tied and my hands cuffed and they began to slip documents onto the table on which lay an army telephone (capable generate current) to sign them, with the threat of continued torture if I refuse,” said Kudryashov.

The Tver resident's home was searched, during which security forces found several Molotov cocktails. Kudryashov himself insisted that they did not belong to him. Later, the young man was sent to a pre-trial detention center.

In June, he went on a hunger strike due to violations of his rights while under arrest and the refusal of the head of the detention center to meet with him. The Tver resident went on hunger strike for 40 days. He decided to end the hunger strike soon after the pre-trial detention center staff promised to fulfill his demands — in particular, to provide the prisoner with vegan food and vitamins sent to him by his comrades.

In August, due to a hunger strike, Kudryashov was placed in the psychiatric department of the regional FSIN hospital in Torzhok. As the “Solidarity Zone” reported, soon after this, a letter was received from the pre-trial detention center on behalf of a Tver resident, written in someone else’s handwriting. It spoke of «problems in the head» and a «nervous breakdown.» According to representatives of the Solidarity Zone, with the help of this letter, the management of the hospital where the prisoner is located is “trying to mislead the public.”
