Kuban blogger “Sanya Novokubansk” was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison because of a post about the consequences of the shelling of Kyiv

The Novokubansky District Court of the Krasnodar Territory sentenced Alexander Nozdrinov, who runs the Sanya Novokubansk YouTube channel about violations of Kuban traffic inspectors, to eight years and six months in prison. The decision was announced by representatives of the court and the human rights project “Network Freedoms”.

Nozdrinov was found guilty of distributing “fake news” about the actions of the Russian army because of a post in a telegram (points “d”, “e” of part 2 of the article 207.3 CC). On March 6, 2022, the blogger posted on his channel a photo of a bombed multi-story building in Kyiv with the caption “Ukrainian cities after the arrival of the liberators.” The channel is currently unavailable.

After his release, as the press service of the Kuban courts writes, he was also banned for four years from “engaging in activities related to working in the media.”

To Nozdrinov and his friend Dmitry Bubenko, with whom he ran a YouTube channel, was searched three weeks after the post was published. Shortly before this, “Sanya Novokubansk” was placed under administrative arrest under the article on disobedience to security forces (19.3 of the Administrative Code). After being detained in a criminal case, the blogger was placed in a pre-trial detention center.
