MOSCOW, September 29 Czech Republic’s decision to name Russia The most serious threat to the country’s security is associated with Prague’s lack of sovereignty in matters of defense and the confrontation between Moscow and Washington, said Timofey Bordachev, scientific director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the Faculty of World Economy and Politics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
The publication Seznam Zprávy reported that in the new defense strategy of the Czech Republic, Russia is named the most serious threat to the country. The document has already been approved by the republic's Security Council, and a government vote is expected in October.
«As the territory where American forces are stationed, the Czech Republic records in its documents those threats that are important for the United States, and not for itself, since the Czech Republic does not have sovereignty in security matters,» Bordachev said.
The expert noted that the lack of sovereignty in matters of defense is associated with Prague's membership in NATO. At the same time, the decision to name Russia as the main threat to national security is not made for Moscow, but in order to “once again at its constitutional level fix its status as a territorial base for the deployment of US troops.”
“The United States has enmity with Russia, so all the US satellites also record that they have enmity with Russia,” Bordachev concluded.
