ISTANBUL, 1 Oct. Sappers neutralized several suspicious boxes near the building The Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs in Ankara after a militant attack, AHaber TV channel reports.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya, previously announced an attempted terrorist attack near the ministry building in the center of Ankara; one terrorist blew himself up, the other was neutralized. During the shootout, two police officers were slightly wounded.
The channel demonstrated live the work of sappers inspecting a car used by militants. Experts removed several suspicious boxes from a car with broken windows and carried out a controlled explosion, eliminating the threat.
““Signals are being jammed in the area to exclude the possibility of remote detonation,” the channel notes. Police ask journalists to move away from the scene of the incident.
Turkish media are also discussing a photograph of an RPG at the scene of the incident: apparently, the grenade launcher was used during the battle after the terrorist attack.
