The Ural resident who threw a Molotov cocktail at the military registration and enlistment office and was taken from Kyrgyzstan to Russia has had his charges increased.

The defendant in the case of arson of a military registration and enlistment office in the suburbs of Yekaterinburg — anarchist Alexei Rozhkov — has had his charges increased. This is reported by the Solidarity Zone project.

On March 11, 2022, Rozhkov threw a Molotov cocktail into the military registration and enlistment office building in the city of Berezovsky in the Sverdlovsk region. After his arrest, he was charged with attempted murder for hooligan reasons, committed with particular cruelty in a generally dangerous way. According to the case file, a security guard was on duty at the military registration and enlistment office that night. During the interrogation, the woman said that at five in the morning she heard a “pop” and then saw “fire and black smoke in the entrance area.” She filled a bucket of water from the tap and put out the fire.

Rozhkov spent six months in a pre-trial detention center, where his charge was softened, charging him with attempted damage to someone else's property by arson (Part 2 of Article 167 with the use of Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code ). At the end of the summer of 2022, the anarchist was released on his own recognizance, and a couple of months later he left the country. In May 2023, a Ural citizen was detained in Kyrgyzstan and extradited to Russia.

“Zone of Solidarity,” with reference to the investigator’s resolution, which the judge of the Berezovsky City Court attached to Rozhkov’s case, writes that the anarchist is now accused of committing a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). According to the project, he is now undergoing a psychiatric examination at the Sverdlovsk Regional Center for Forensic and Social Psychiatry.

Last Wednesday, September 26, it also became known that a new criminal case had been opened against Rozhkov — about public justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). The reason was a broadcast on the YouTube channel “Khodorkovsky LIVE”, in which the anarchist told how he threw a Molotov cocktail into the military registration and enlistment office building. He also published a fragment of a conversation with himself on his page on VKontakte.
