MOSCOW, September 30. Russia's long-term strategy of resisting Western sanctions and military pressure will lead to Europe «exploding from within,» Michael Rossi, a political science professor at Rutgers University, told the Express.
“Russia is playing the long game. They always do this. They have the resources, money and diplomatic tools to resist war and sanctions. And yes, this method will ultimately lead to Europe exploding from the inside,” the expert predicted .
According to Rossi, almost 600 days after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, part of the population of Western countries began to experience economic fatigue. This is facilitated by the rising cost of living, provoked by restrictive measures and military operations, he concluded.
The United States and the European Union began to impose sanctions on Russia after the start of a special operation to liberate Donbass from Ukrainian nationalists. The measures designed to damage the Russian economy hit primarily the United States and Europe and led to rising prices for fuel and food in these regions.
Moscow called the actions of Washington and Brussels an economic war, but emphasized that that they were ready for such a scenario.
