A new air threat to the Armed Forces of Ukraine came from an unexpected place — the Russian Aerospace Forces have learned to knock out extremely important targets, for example, trains with armored vehicles , warehouses and command posts deep behind enemy lines. And they do it with surgical precision. The number of strikes has also increased. The head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts, Andrei Klintsevich, told MK about what lies at the basis of the new strike tactics.
He believes, in particular, that it was possible to recruit high-ranking officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who had lost faith in the victory of Ukraine and shared important military information with us. But this is only one of the components of success.
Analysts note that there is some “operational stagnation” on the line of combat contact. At the same time, Russian troops every day demonstrate high results in the implementation of their technical capabilities, primarily in terms of remote strikes against the enemy.
Finally, the old problem began to be solved, when the enemy could reach our positions with the help of NATO active-missile high-precision projectiles, hitting targets at a distance of more than 30 kilometers, but we often did not have such an opportunity. And now our troops have begun to use improved Lancet drones with a range of 90 kilometers or more. They even reach the operational airfields of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and hit aircraft parked there.
A video of such attacks appeared last week, when our air forces were at the Dolgintsevo airfields on the outskirts of Krivoy Rog and Kulbakino in the southeast of Nikolaev. According to some reports, about four MiG-29 aircraft were destroyed.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are confused by the multiple increase in the number of Russian Geran-2 drones flying at military targets. There are more drones, and it has become much more difficult to intercept them. So, in September, according to enemy estimates, 503 drones flew in his direction. For the entire June there were 197 such arrivals, in July – 246, in August – 167. There is a quantitative jump.
Western experts admitted that Geraniums have become more deadly: the charge is more powerful, shrapnel is used, and noise immunity and accuracy have increased. Military expert Yuri Baranchik announced the imminent appearance of a turbojet version of the drone that will fly faster.
In addition, “Gerani” and “Caliber” have become more maneuverable and have learned to approach targets from different directions. Thus, we can overload the Ukrainian air defense with a large number of our missiles and drones. By the way, replenishing ammunition for Ukrainian air defense has become even more difficult.
Assessing the increased effectiveness of our strikes, military expert Andrei Klintsevich noted that NATO countries greatly miscalculated about Russia's potential.
— The West, believing that Russia will not be able to mobilize and develop its military-industrial complex, was simply strategically mistaken. The strike statistics for September showed that we tripled this figure compared to the summer period. The defense industrial complex produces the entire line of destruction systems needed by our army, ranging from high-speed and hypersonic missiles to drones, including FPV drones. And unlike Ukraine, to which China cut off the supply of commercial drones, Russia feels free and does not experience difficulties.
— We were able to deploy a serious network of our intelligence officers on the ground, who identify Ukrainian Armed Forces’ targets. We were able to recruit high-ranking Ukrainian officers who understand that the days of the Kiev regime are numbered and want to arrange their future, so they cooperate with us, giving away main positions, warehouses, and so on.
In addition, satellite reconnaissance has been added. With its help, our unmanned reconnaissance aircraft can fly deep enough behind enemy lines. When, for example, we destroyed MiG-29 aircraft with Lancet strike drones at an airfield located 80 kilometers from the front line, our drone was above this area and monitored these hits from above…
