A resident of Uryupinsk who threw Molotov cocktails at the entrance of the military registration and enlistment office was sentenced to 12 years of strict regime

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Mikhail Filatov, a resident of Uryupinsk, Volgograd Region, to 12 years of maximum security in the case of arson of a military registration and enlistment office. The press service of the court reported this.

Filatov was found guilty of committing a terrorist attack that resulted in significant property damage (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). He will serve the first three years of his sentence in prison.

According to investigators, Filatov “found instructions on making homemade incendiary devices” on the Internet, bought components for an incendiary mixture and made 11 Molotov cocktails. On the night of September 26, 2022, Filatov, according to court materials, came to the military registration and enlistment office in the Uryupinsky and Novonikolaevsky districts, doused the entrance to the building with gasoline and one by one threw flaming bottles at it.

As a result, the entrance to the military registration and enlistment office caught fire. Two people inside left the building through an emergency exit.

On September 26, the Baza Telegram channel published videos from street cameras located near the military registration and enlistment office. In the video, a man drives up close to the entrance to the building in a car, and then gets out of the car and throws Molotov cocktails at the military registration and enlistment office. A VAZ-2115 car driven to the entrance burned out.

A few hours after the arson, a post appeared on Mikhail Filatov’s VKontakte page with a burning Molotov cocktail and the caption “Everyone protests as they think is right.”

Edition V1.RU wrote that Filatov is “a big fan of Tesak” and adheres to neo-Nazi views. He worked as a technician in the Red and White store and was an administrator of the Sober Uryupinsk public page.
