MOSCOW, 2 Oct. The terms of a peace treaty with Russia will be significantly worse for Ukraine, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces were defeated on the battlefield, economist Jeffrey Sachs said on the Kim Iverson YouTube channel.
““It’s time to conclude the peace treaty that was on the table with from the very beginning. Its conditions, of course, have worsened due to Russia's successes on the battlefield, but we must end this conflict — at the negotiating table. Not like this: first one 24 billion aid package, followed by another. How many more Ukrainians should die for this?» — the expert asked.
In his opinion, it’s time for the United States to take control of budget spending and stop wasting money on stupid and destructive conflicts like the Ukrainian one. Sachs is confident that Washington is weakening, since its debt has already exceeded 100% of GDP and is not slowing down.
“It’s time to take this seriously. Government spending should not exceed tax revenues,” he concluded.
Earlier, an adviser to the head of Zelensky's office, Mikhail Podolyak, said that there could be no negotiations with Moscow and Kiev was against any ceasefire scenario, since this would mean an actual victory for Russia.
As noted in the Kremlin, there are no prerequisites for a transition the situation is not in a peaceful direction now, the absolute priority for Moscow is achieving the goals of the special operation, at the moment this is only possible through military means. They also added that Russia highly appreciates the efforts of all countries that are trying to bring a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, but so far this is impossible.
