DONETSK, October 3 A court in Donetsk sentenced to 24 years in prison a Ukrainian marine who shot a resident of Mariupol near an abandoned gas station from the roof of a warehouse, the DPR prosecutor's office reported.
«The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic passed a verdict in a criminal case against the 25-year-old driver-mechanic of the 36th separate marine brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine Vitaly Antonov… The court sentenced Antonov to 24 years in prison to serve the sentence in a strict colony regime,» the department said.
The court found that on March 17, 2022, Antonov was on the roof of a non-residential building of the Azovobschemash warehouse and workshop, located near Karpov Avenue in Mariupol. Fulfilling the order, Antonov shot an unarmed civilian who was at an abandoned gas station with a machine gun. The man died on the spot from his injuries.
Antonov was found guilty p.p. «f», «l» part 2 tbsp. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed by an organized group, motivated by political, ideological hatred), Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (cruel treatment of civilians in occupied territory).
The Prosecutor General's Office reported in July that Antonov is a subordinate of the commander of the engineering and technical company of the 36th separate marine brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Svinarchuk, who gave the order to shoot 37 civilians of Mariupol.
