US General Hodges: Biden made two mistakes in the Ukrainian conflict
US President Joe Biden achieved success with his policy regarding the Ukrainian conflict, building a coalition of 50 countries helping Kiev, which the Russian authorities did not expect, but also allowed two mistakes, the former commander of the American army in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, said in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.
The President of the United States did not specify what Washington’s ultimate goal is — “why are we transferring 50 billion dollars or more to Ukraine” , the publication’s interlocutor shared his point of view. “I think if he had said that our goal was the victory of Ukraine, the Americans would have been more willing to support Kyiv,” Hodges said. According to the general, Washington's goal should be a return to the 1991 borders.
The first mistake leads to the second, he noted, sharing the observation that it is difficult for countries helping the former Soviet republic to pursue a consistent policy without a specific goal in this matter. The American side provides Javelin, Stinger, ATACMS and other military products, but there is not always a plan behind it, Hodges emphasized.
The general believes that Biden is “excessively fearful” of Moscow’s escalation of the conflict and the use of nuclear weapons .
