Russian President Vladimir Putin during plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club raised the topic of the death of the leadership of the Wagner PMC during the plane crash, including Evgeny Prigozhin and Dmitry Utkin.
“We know about the plane crash. The head of the Investigative Committee [Alexander Bastrykin — approx.] reported to me the other day that fragments of hand grenades were found in the bodies of the victims. There was no external impact on the plane,” said the head of state.
He emphasized that such results were announced after an examination by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. At the same time, Putin noted that the investigation has not yet been completed. According to the president, the investigation did not conduct an examination for the presence of alcohol and drugs in the bodies of the victims.
The crash of the Embraer-135 plane, in which the leadership of the Wagner PMC was located, occurred on August 23 in the Tver region. After some time, the Russian Investigative Committee found out that the head of the company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, commander Dmitry Utkin, and eight other people were on board.
