MOSCOW, October 5 The staff of the cosmonaut training test center was awarded the Order of Gagarin for their great contribution to the development of the Russian cosmonautics, says the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, published on the official website of legal information.
“For their great contribution to the development of domestic cosmonautics and the creation of a unique cosmonaut training system, award the Order of Gagarin to the staff of the federal state budgetary institution Research Center for Cosmonaut Training named after Yuri Gagarin, Moscow Region,” the decree says.
The Order of Gagarin was approved at the suggestion of Roscosmos in 2023. The award is given for achievements in the field of space. The first woman cosmonaut on the planet (who flew in 1963), State Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova, was the first to receive the Order of Gagarin.
Then the Order was awarded to cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov. From 2011 to 2022, he completed four space flights with a total duration of more than 700 days, performed three spacewalks and spent 21 hours and 38 minutes. He took part in the filming of the feature film «Challenge» on the ISS.
