Blogger Alexander Shpak, who left Russia, was given five fines under the article on “discrediting” the army

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow imposed five fines of 50 thousand rubles each on bodybuilding blogger Alexander Shpak under the article on “discrediting” the army. TASS reported this in court.

What the protocols were related to is unknown. The texts of the decisions have not yet been posted in the court file.

Shpak, who has 2.6 million subscribers on Instagram, while living in Russia was a guest on a talk show on federal channels, where he talked about his plastic surgery and tattoos all over the body. He left for Turkey in 2020. Now he regularly criticizes Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on his page, posting footage of the consequences of military operations.

In August, Shpak was fined because of a video where footage of parades in Nazi Germany was compared with the celebration of Victory Day in Russia. The punishment was imposed under articles on “discrediting” the army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and on identifying the activities of the USSR with Nazi Germany (Part 1 of Article 13.48 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Both articles were introduced shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine.
