ALMA-ATA, Oct. 7The transit of Russian gas through Kazakh territory to Uzbekistan meets the interests of all parties involved, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during the launch ceremony of supplies at the residence of Russian leader Vladimir Putin near Moscow.
On Saturday, Putin and the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym -Zhomart Tokayev launched the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan.
“This is a historical event that opens another bright page in the annals of good neighborly relations, raising our strategic partnership and interaction in the field of energy to a new level. The gas industry plays a large, special role in the sustainable socio-economic progress of our states. Therefore, this project is in the interests of all parties involved,» Tokayev said.
Russian Gazprom previously reported that the export of Russian gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. The corresponding contract was signed in June by the head of the company, Alexey Miller, and the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov. It was noted that Russian gas will be supplied to Uzbekistan in reverse mode via the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system through Kazakhstan.
