PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, October 9 The Elizovsky District Court in Kamchatka sentenced a former employee of the Kamchatka Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on transport for the illegal export of two tons of artisanal red caviar, reported press service of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Kamchatka Territory.
“From August to December 2021, a former employee of the internal affairs bodies, as part of a group of persons, by prior conspiracy, acquired, stored, transported and sent outside the region unmarked salmon caviar in especially large sizes. In total, with the participation of the convicted person, about two tons of salmon were illegally exported caviar. The product was sold in the Moscow and Novosibirsk regions and the Primorsky Territory,» the statement says.
The total cost of caviar was 6.5 million rubles. Also, during searches, FSB and police officers seized from the criminals about 700 more kilograms of ready-to-sell caviar worth 2.8 million rubles.
By a court verdict, the former accused was found guilty of points “a”, “b” of Part 4 of Article 171.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (purchase, storage, transportation for marketing purposes and sale of food products without labeling and applying information required by law Russian Federation, in cases where such marking and application of such information is mandatory, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on an especially large scale).
He was sentenced to a fine of 500 thousand rubles. When passing the sentence, the court took into account the admission of guilt, repentance for the crime, and active assistance in solving crimes by giving evidence about accomplices. The verdict came into legal force.
