In June, the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, and the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, signed a contract to begin exporting Russian gas through Kazakhstan in the fourth quarter of this year.

In Tashkent it was clarified that supplies are planned to begin on October 1, and the volume of purchases will be nine million cubic meters per day — about 2.8 billion cubic meters annually. It was reported that Russian gas will flow to Uzbekistan in reverse mode through the Central Asia — Center gas pipeline system through Kazakhstan.
As the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted, at the initial stage the initiative of the gas union of Moscow, Astana and Tashkent involves the creation of a mechanism coordination of cooperation, in which the emergence of a separate legal entity is possible, but these issues remain to be considered. In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak emphasized that these parties have great potential for cooperation in this area.
