Former Deputy Prosecutor of the 231st Military Prosecutor's Office of the Moscow Garrison, Alexander, «Vashurin is finally sentenced by partial addition to 7 years, with deprivation of the military rank of lieutenant colonel with a fine of 400 thousand rubles, with deprivation of the military rank of lieutenant colonel of justice in reserve,» judge Nikolai Petukhov announced the decision.
Deputy General Director for Security of the NRTB Alexander Lezhnev, his subordinate Alexander Zolotykh and ex-employee of the FSB of Russia Ivan Shumigai received 7.5, 6 and 8 years in prison, respectively, as well as fines of up to 600 thousand rubles.
The court has been considering the case for almost two years. Lezhnev and Shumigai are in a pre-trial detention center, Vashurin and Zolotykh are under recognizance not to leave the place; they came to the announcement with their belongings. They were taken into custody in the courtroom.
According to the investigation, the defendants extorted 100 million rubles from the management of the National Radio and Television Library for “help” in stopping inspections of the organization, which they themselves organized with the support of Vashurin.
During the debate, the state prosecutor asked for Vashurin and Zoloty to be sentenced to eight years in prison with a fine of 400 thousand rubles, Shumigay and Lezhnev to be sent to a colony for nine years with a fine of 700 thousand rubles each.
