Putin held talks with the President of Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, October 12 Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Japarov at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek on the eve of the CIS summit.

“Today’s negotiations really took place in a friendly and constructive manner, they were very productive, colleagues communicated with each other, almost each of the participants spoke out and made their proposals for the development of our cooperation,” said the head of the Russian state.

Po in his words, it was possible to thoroughly discuss “the entire range of international relations, topical regional and international issues.” In addition, as Putin noted, “a solid package of interstate and interdepartmental documents” had been prepared for his visit to Kyrgyzstan.

Speaking about economic partnership, the president emphasized that last year bilateral trade increased by 37 percent and reached a record volume of $3.4 billion. In the first half of 2023, as Putin said, it grew by another 18 percent.

The President added that countries are “actively switching to national currencies, building sustainable channels of credit and banking cooperation.”

«As a result, the share of the ruble in counter commercial transactions reached an impressive 83 percent,» Putin said.
Politicians also took part in the event marking the 20th anniversary of the Kant airbase.
“»This military outpost makes a significant contribution to strengthening the defense capability of the republic, to ensuring security and stability throughout the Central Asian region and to the fight against such acute challenges and threats as terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and organized crime,» the Russian president noted.
According to Japarov, Kyrgyzstan and Russia “confirmed the invariability of the course towards intensifying and expanding mutual cooperation,” and the signed bilateral documents became “a clear confirmation of this.”

As the head of the republic added, during the negotiations the presidents separately focused on areas of interaction in the areas of investment, the fuel and energy complex and agriculture. We agreed to intensify the work of the governments of the two countries to diversify their economies and implement major investment projects in order to deepen economic cooperation.

“The results of the visit allow us to be optimistic about the development of Kyrgyz-Russian relations,” summed up the President of Kyrgyzstan.
The CIS summit will be held in Bishkek on Friday. Vladimir Putin will also hold several separate meetings with his CIS colleagues as part of his visit to Kyrgyzstan. In particular, today he will talk with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The leaders plan to discuss the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and the Russian peacekeepers stationed there, as well as the possible return of Karabakh Armenians to their places of residence. And on Friday, the Russian President will meet with the leader of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
