MOSCOW, October 12 There is more than enough capacity to provide electric vehicles in Moscow; today the capacity surplus is 12-14 %, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at the session “Creating the City of the Future” of the Russian Energy Week.»
«Moscow's electricity capacity is surplus, today it amounts to 12-14%. If we get 1 million cars in Moscow, then consumption will increase by only 4%. We will increase the fuel energy sector in order to provide electric vehicles. We have more than enough capacity. As for night charging, during hours when there is no power consumption, we will level out this situation, and we most likely will not need additional capacity,” Sobyanin said.
According to him, 80% of the capital’s public transport passengers already travel by electric transport , in particular, they use the Moscow Central Diameters, commuter trains, electric buses, electric river boats.
He recalled that the capital has set the task of completely switching to electric buses, and in the future, the majority of cars on the streets of Moscow should become electric.
