MOSCOW, Oct. 13Nikita Mokeev, an expert in the field of IT technologies, co-author and co-founder of the technoblog Pochinka blog, told in an interview with Sputnik radio what functions of a smartphone can be turned off to reduce the battery consumption.
New phones usually run out slowly, but after a year or two their batteries are starting to lose capacity, he noted. You can reduce the device's power consumption by disabling some functions, the expert is sure.
“
"Of course, it all depends on the battery capacity, but on average, on a conventionally two-year-old phone you can save up to ten percent of the charge per day if you turn off everything superfluous,” Mokeev clarified.
In particular, autostarting applications consumes energy without providing the user with additional convenience, the expert believes.
“Many applications have an autorun function: when the phone turns on, they launch and transfer some data. Most often, this is only needed by developers to check metrics,” said Mokeev.
Constant searching for Wi-Fi access points can seriously increase battery drain, he continued.
““There is a setting that actively searches for Wi-Fi access points, is updated frequently, due to this the wireless communication module is constantly activated,” — Mokeev explained.
According to him, vibration response can also affect the power consumption of a smartphone if the user frequently presses buttons, for example, during correspondence.
The expert also recommended disabling the system print service.
«»This setting constantly searches for printers so that you can quickly print the required document. Previously, it was necessary turn on yourself, then the developers decided that it should be turned on by default,” added Mokeev.
If the battery capacity is significantly reduced, it is worth using a special mode of operation of the phone, he believes.
If the battery capacity is already very addicted, it is also advisable to use the battery saving mode, which turns off unnecessary background activities, Mokeev concluded.
