The famous scholar said that Israel cannot afford to fight for a long time
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is in full swing. So far, Israeli troops, despite statements by the country's political leadership, have not launched a ground operation in Gaza. The famous polymath Anatoly Wasserman, in a conversation with MK correspondents, said: troops will not enter Palestinian territory, since Israel cannot afford to fight for a long time.
– This conflict, in my opinion, will end in a week or two (before the beginning of November. – Author), – says Anatoly Alexandrovich. – Israel cannot afford to fight for a long time, so at the moment it is fighting very intensively.
Almost everyone in Israel fights. Now 300 thousand reservists have been called up. This is a share of the Israeli population that is close to the limit of what is possible for the local economy. After all, all these people didn’t just sit and wait to be drafted into the army. They were all busy with something, working somewhere, doing something vital for the country. And such a share of conscription means that they cannot be conscripted for a long time. They will have to return to normal life.
At the same time, according to Wasserman, it is not possible to resolve all the contradictions between the Israelis and Palestinians in the foreseeable future. That is why the conflict will flare up regularly in the future.
– The conflict between Jews and Arab tribes will continue as long as both Jews and Arabs live on the land, between the river and the sea, – considers an erudite. – I will not get into the differences between these tribes, which make the enmity between them almost eternal. But so far there is no way to somehow compensate for these differences with something sensible.
