MINSK, 13 Oct. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the West is not abandoning attempts to “shatter in different directions” the CIS countries, weaken and subordinate them to its interests.
«Let me remind you that the main goal of creating the Commonwealth was to prevent a severance of ties after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This did not suit and still does not suit our competitors, the West, which to this day does not give up attempts to shake us in different directions, weaken and subordinate us to their interests,» Lukashenko said on Friday in Bishkek at the CIS summit in a limited format. His words are quoted by the Telegram channel “Pool of the First”, which is close to the press service of the head of state.
At the same time, he called for unity and cooperation with like-minded countries, emphasizing that in the modern world only strength is respected. “Remember, when we were in the Soviet Union, everyone was afraid of us. They were afraid and respected. Unfortunately, the world is such that only strength is respected. And now, together with China, Iran, Brazil, the global South, what kind of Western sanctions? Our opinion will be taken into account , if we are together. And our opinion in international affairs will be decisive,» the Belarusian president said.
«I said and I will repeat again: we need to preserve the unique formats of our unity at all costs «We cannot allow internal splits and joining the ideologists and conductors of sanctions pressure,» he emphasized.
Lukashenko also called for a more critical assessment of the situation in the Commonwealth and not to hide one's head in the sand. “We see that all the old conflicts that were thrown at us at one time inevitably come to light with very sad consequences. Thank God that not only have ways to resolve these conflicts been outlined, but some of them have been successfully resolved,” he said.< br>
