MOSCOW, Oct 4, Andrey Vasilchin. American model Katherine Mayorga intends to sue world football star Cristiano Ronaldo again. According to Sky Sports, the girl is filing a civil lawsuit against the leader of the Saudi Al-Nasr in a rape case.
A team of lawyers is ready to send a request to the US Circuit Court of Appeals in order to overturn the decision to dismiss the case and reopen it. In the summer of 2022, the civil lawsuit was dismissed due to Mayorga's lawyer's use of confidential documents during the trial that were «stolen.»
The progress of the investigation of the high-profile case was given back in 2018 by the girl’s interview with the German publication Spiegel. Almost 10 years after Mayorga's meeting with the Portuguese, Las Vegas police issued a warrant to collect a DNA sample from the football player. Law enforcement agencies wanted to compare the player’s genetic material with samples found on the dress left from that ill-fated evening in the hotel room.
The model spoke, inspired by the #MeToo movement, whose activists talk about similar incidents in an attempt to punish rapists. It turned out that in 2010 she signed a non-disclosure agreement with the player’s lawyers and even received $375 thousand for silence.
What about the Portuguese? While the model tried to sue him and receive compensation in the amount of 56.5 million pounds (about 79 million dollars), Cristiano stood his ground: everything happened by agreement of the parties.
In July 2020, Nevada prosecutors ruled that Ronaldo would not be charged with rape because «allegations of sexual assault cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.» However, as we see, Ronaldo's name will appear in the news more than once.
As for the Portuguese's personal life now, he has been in a relationship with model Georgina Rodriguez for seven years. The couple has five children:
- Ronaldo's first son, Cristiano Jr., was born in 2010. It is unknown who the mother of the child is;
- In 2017, Cristiano and Georgina had twins from a surrogate mother. The babies were given the names Mateo and Eva;
- In November 2017, the couple had a daughter, Alana Martina;
- In April Georgina was supposed to give birth to twins in 2022, but her newborn son died. Fortunately, the girl survived and, becoming the fifth child in the family of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, received the name Bella Esmeralda.
