YEKATERINBURG, October 15 A resident of the Sverdlovsk region ran over a pedestrian, after which he threw his body into a ditch and drove off, a criminal case has been opened, reports the press service of the regional State Traffic Safety Inspectorate.

As a result of the accident, the pedestrian , a man born in 1969, died on the spot from his injuries,” the statement says.
State traffic inspectors at the scene of the accident seized parts from the car that committed the collision, which one of the local residents pointed to the alleged driver, who subsequently confessed.
According to the department, a 40-year-old man explained that he was heading to work in his car and, due to the darkness and rain, did not notice a person lying on the road and drove over him, after why he pulled him out of the way and drove away.
