NEW DELHI, Oct. 15The search for Russian climber Nadezhda Oleneva, who disappeared the day before in Nepal, continues; information about the discovery of her body does not entirely correspond to reality, said Alexander Ivashev, press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Nepal.
As the Russian Mountaineering Federation reported on its website, Oleneva, together with Roman Abildaev and Rasim Kashapov, climbed Mount Dhaulagiri in Nepal. On Saturday morning, the group left the camp at an altitude of 6050 meters and after 4 hours reached an altitude of 6700 meters, where they began to restore the tent site. A few minutes after this, the climbers reported that Oleneva had fallen.
On Sunday, a number of Telegram channels reported the discovery of the body of a Russian climber.
«The information about the discovery of the body is not entirely true. In fact, only the place where Nadezhda Oleneva fell was discovered. Due to heavy fog, the helicopter cannot land a special group to descend into the crevice «, said the embassy representative.
He clarified that while flying over the scene of the incident, Russian climbers saw the body.
«During the flight, the group members actually saw the body. But it is not yet possible to confirm that it was Nadezhda,» the diplomat added.
