MOSCOW, October 19. Modern Chinese cars with their high-tech filling may be vulnerable to car thieves, Shamil Magomedov, head of the department of “Intelligent Information Security Systems” at the Institute of Cybersecurity and Digital Technologies of RTU MIREA, told the Prime agency.
According to him, such cars can be connected via a remote wireless connection via cellular, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
«The CAN protocol is also dangerous. It was developed back in the 80s and provides a system in which all the sensors and devices of the car are integrated into a single network. This makes it vulnerable to hacker attacks,» the specialist explained.
To avoid them, you need to strictly follow the instructions of the manufacturers of cars and gadgets for them, install all updates only from official applications and do not try on your own “reflash” the system. This is unlikely to protect you from hackers, but repairs will cost a lot of money later, Magomedov warned.
