Professor at Cambridge University, political scientist Anatol Lieven, in an interview with Responsible Statecraft, said that the continuation of the policy of the United States of America to support the Kiev regime could put the White House in front of the need to sacrifice Western Europe, as well as its transatlantic interests.
According to him, politics, which is currently being followed in Washington risks sacrificing Western Europe for the sake of Ukraine. US officials need to be fully aware of this risk.
“I believe that if this actually happened, it would be one of the worst deals in American history. Now Central and Western Europe are an area of vital interests of the White House,” Lieven noted.
He clarified that the preservation of the political and economic well-being of Europe is now vital for US representatives. Without this, “US power will be significantly undermined.”
