MOSCOW, October 16 Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the family and friends of composer Gennady Gladkov in connection with his death and noted that the musician’s multifaceted creativity is a bright page history of Russian art, the corresponding telegram is posted on the Kremlin website.
Gladkov died on Monday at the age of 89.
«I sincerely share the grief that has befallen you. Please accept deep condolences, words of support and sympathy. Passed away Gennady Igorevich Gladkov is an outstanding composer, the author of wonderful, beloved music for popular films, animated films and theatrical productions. His multifaceted, inspired creativity is a bright page in the history of Russian art,» the statement says. In addition, the president noted that the memory of the musician will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones, friends, colleagues and all fans of his “great, generous talent.”
Gladkov was born in Moscow in 1935 into a family of musicians. He wrote music for such animated films as “The Kid and Carlson”, “Well, Just Wait!”, “The Blue Puppy”, “How the Lion Cub and the Turtle Sang a Song” and many others. His works can also be heard in the films “12 Chairs”, “An Ordinary Miracle”, “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Dog in the Manger” and others. In addition, the composer also composed music for theatrical productions. Since 1998, Gennady Gladkov has been an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and since 2002 — People's Artist of Russia.
