MOSCOW, 22 Oct. Militant politicians in Washington intend to continue the war in Ukraine indefinitely because they fear the loss of their country's international authority, Doug Bandow, a former adviser to US President Ronald Reagan, said in an article for the American Conservative.
“
"Party war fell into the “trap of maintaining authority.” <…>. The pursuit of authority <…> distorts rather than improves political decisions in Washington,” the expert wrote.
According to Bandow, the argument about the need to maintain the international authority of the United States has traditionally allowed the “war party” in Washington to fight long wars that do not meet the true interests of the people and the state.
At the same time, the expert believes that even the complete collapse of Ukraine will have very little impact on the security of the United States itself.
“
“It makes no sense for Moscow to go to war with the United States: we have no territorial disputes, and most international squabbles are of only limited importance,” says Bandow.
October 20, US President Joe Biden has asked Congress to agree on a budget for aid to Ukraine and Israel, which is expected to allocate $14.3 billion. For Kyiv, 61 billion dollars are planned, of which almost half will go to the supply of weapons and replenishment of its own reserves.
