
MOSCOW, Oct. 22 Death toll as a result of severe storm » Babet» in the UK has reached seven, writes the Independent newspaper.
«The number of people who died in incidents related to the deadly storm Babet has risen to at least seven,» the newspaper writes.
Although forecasters say the worst of the storm is behind us, flood warnings remain in effect in parts of the country as water levels remain extremely high, the newspaper notes.
Disruptions to British transport are expected to continue on Sunday after «48 hours of chaos» on rail and highway routes, the newspaper said.
Earlier, the British weather service announced the highest red alert level for Scotland due to the approaching storm Babet. Local authorities called on residents of several areas in the east of the region to evacuate their homes amid the approaching storm. A red weather alert has been issued for the first time in the UK since Storm Dennis hit the country in February 2020.
