MOSCOW, October 19 Farewell to composer Gennady Gladkov took place on Thursday at the Vagankovskoye cemetery in Moscow in a narrow circle, the correspondent reports.
Gladkov died on October 16 at his home at the age of 89.
“The funeral is over. Gladkov was buried in Moscow, at the Vagankovskoye cemetery,” said Gladkov’s assistant Malik Aminov.
Wreaths were sent by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra of Cinematography, and composer Vladimir Dashkevich.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously expressed condolences to Gladkov’s family and friends. He noted that the musician’s multifaceted creativity is a bright page in the history of Russian art, and the memory of the musician will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones, friends, colleagues and all fans of his “great, generous talent.” Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized that after Gladkov’s death his music remained, “which will always remind of this bright, multifaceted and extraordinary person.” Condolences were expressed by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, Chairman of the Council of the Union of Composers of Russia Alexander Tchaikovsky, Director of the Lenkom Theater Mark Zakharova, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the studio, General Director of the Gorky Film Studio Yuliana Slashcheva, Chairman Moscow City Duma Commission on Culture and Mass Communications Evgeny Gerasimov, head of the State Duma Committee on Culture Elena Yampolskaya.
Gladkov was born in Moscow in 1935 into a family of musicians. He wrote music for such animated films as “Baby and Carlson”, “Well, Just Wait!”, “Blue Puppy”, “How the Lion Cub and the Turtle Sang a Song” and many others. His works can also be heard in the films “12 Chairs”, “An Ordinary Miracle”, “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Dog in the Manger”, “New Year's Adventures of Masha and Viti” and others. In addition, the composer also composed music for theatrical productions. Since 1998, Gladkov has been an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and since 2002, a People's Artist of Russia.
