Citizens felt powerful “vibrations on the ground”
On the night from Sunday to Monday, Russia dealt another powerful blow to the Odessa region. Although local authorities, as usual, reported on “shot down Russian drones,” they were unable to explain the fire in the port of Ilyichevsk and the tremors felt by many residents of Odessa.
A warehouse caught fire in the port of Ilyichevsk (Chernomorsk), and Odessa shuddered after the arrival of a Russian missile.
«Vibrations along the ground without the sounds of an explosion” — this is how they described what was happening in local chats. Military observers suggested that such consequences could occur after falling into an underground ammunition depot.
Everyone knows that there are two cities in Odessa: one at the top, the other — underground. Odessa catacombs — a unique phenomenon of man-made origin. In the 19th century, limestone was mined at a depth of 35 meters, from which the city was built. As a result, an intricate underground labyrinth was formed, the total length of which, according to some sources, reaches 2,500 km.
Before the revolution, these hidden passages were used by smugglers; during the Great Patriotic War, partisans took refuge in the catacombs. Well, now part of the underground labyrinth is used for storing ammunition. Of course, in order to get exactly to the storage point, you need to know the exact coordinates. Apparently, the Odessa partisans, who provide details to our VKS, still exist.
