MOSCOW, October 19 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the allocation of a separate section in the register of cultural heritage sites with monuments of the Great Patriotic War, as well as on facilitating the current maintenance of WWII monuments that are objects of cultural heritage. The corresponding document was published on the website of the official publication of legal acts.
The adopted law supplements Article 20 of Federal Law No. 73-F3 with a provision on the mandatory allocation in the register (state register of cultural heritage objects — ed.) of a separate section with information on the classification of objects included in the register as objects of cultural heritage, perpetuating the memory of events and participants of the Great Patriotic War.
The explanatory note noted that previously the register did not contain a criterion to identify the object included in it as an object of cultural heritage, perpetuating the memory of the events and participants of the Great Patriotic War. It was emphasized that this made it difficult to “understand the exact number of such cultural heritage objects and, accordingly, carry out systematic work by authorities to ensure their safety.”
Thus, the law includes within the powers of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation the approval of a list and a special procedure for carrying out work on the repair of cultural heritage sites included in the register, identified cultural heritage sites that perpetuate the memory of events and participants in the Great Patriotic War.
