MOSCOW, October 20 Artistic director of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, actor Konstantin Khabensky announced plans to return to big cinema from the beginning of the new year.
“»I don’t want to do two jobs in parallel, given that, probably, working in cinema is more familiar to me, and working as an artistic director of a theater is a new university in my life and I have to learn a lot. But now there is a light, and I really hope that starting from the new calendar year I will little by little return to big cinema,” the actor said at a press conference in Moscow.
According to him, recently he could afford no more than three to five days of filming, participating mainly in children's films. However, this did not stop him from becoming the best actor of the year, according to a recent poll by VTsIOM.
Khabensky emphasized that he was “sincerely extremely surprised” when he learned about this.
“»Considering that for a year and a half I didn’t do anything anywhere, I didn’t act in films. Apparently, this is that trail of accumulated material, that echo that still rushes through the mountains. Thank you very much to the audience who think so today,” — said the actor.
Khabensky was appointed artistic director of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater in October 2021.
According to the results of the study, Khabensky was among the top three actors of the year according to Russians: 12% of those who gave a meaningful answer. Second and third places were shared by Sergei Bezrukov and Vladimir Mashkov. 11% of respondents voted for each of them. In fourth and fifth place are Sergei Burunov and Alexander Petrov — 6% each.
