A married couple from Stavropol, Denis and Maria Mamedov, were put on the wanted list and arrested in absentia in the case of military “fakes,” Mediazona noted.

Information about the search for the Mamedovs was published in the Ministry of Internal Affairs database. In addition, on the website of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow there are cards of arrests in absentia under the article on the dissemination of “fakes” about the army by a group of persons (clause “b” of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) — the defendants in the case were D. A. Mamedov and M. A. Mamedova. The initials and surname match the data that can be found in the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. What exactly became the reason for criminal prosecution is unknown.

The meeting on choosing a preventive measure in absentia took place on October 17; on October 24, the decision was appealed to a higher authority. At the same time, as Maria Mamedova told a Mediazona correspondent, they did not send any applications to the court to appeal the arrest in absentia.

According to her, she and her husband lived in Stavropol, Maria worked as a human resources specialist at the regional forensic center of the Ministry of Justice. After the announcement of mobilization in Russia, she was asked at work to organize a fundraiser for the needs of the military — the girl refused to do this, adding that she did not support the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine.

In response, the head of the organization recalled that the order came from the Stavropol authorities and that “it is worth fulfilling the government’s request and not later face the consequences of failure to comply with this request.” After this, the Mamedovs decided to leave Russia, fearing persecution by the police; they left the country in October 2022.

The girl added that two weeks after leaving, the police came to her husband’s parents. While not in Russia, the Mamedovs began actively publishing anti-war materials on social networks — later the accounts of the Stavropol resident on VKontakte and Odnoklassniki were blocked at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to Mamedova, she and her husband also wrote an anti-war letter and sent it to the working email addresses of all Russian laboratories and forensic centers. In addition, they sent more than 35 complaints to the Prosecutor General's Office and other authorities demanding to stop the war in Ukraine and bring Vladimir Putin and other perpetrators to justice.

In response, government agencies received letters stating that the Mamedovs themselves could be held accountable for the rehabilitation of Nazism, extremism and “discrediting” the army. The presidential administration also wrote that the actions of Stavropol residents will be checked by the Investigative Committee and the FSB for signs of a crime.
