MOSCOW, Oct 24 In Donetsk and Lugansk In the people's republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, a legitimate system of government bodies was formed as a result of the elections, said Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko.
«»In all four subjects of the Federation, heads of regions and deputies of legislative assemblies were elected. Senators from these regions have been vested with powers and have begun to work. Thus, an absolutely legitimate system of government bodies has been formed. This is an important condition for full-scale integration not only in the economy and social sphere, but also in the field of public administration,” the politician said at the first meeting of the Council on the integration of the reunified constituent entities of the Russian Federation into the legal and socio-economic systems of the Russian Federation under the Federation Council.
At the same time, Matvienko noted that it is no coincidence that the concept of “reunited regions” is used, because these lands are not new to us — they have been and remain an integral part of the Russian state, Russian civilization, and part of our people for centuries.
““Culturally, mentally, spiritually, and historically – these are absolutely our people. There were no barriers or differences between us, there are not, and there cannot be,” she emphasized.
According to her, these are our citizens who connect their future only with Russia, which was confirmed by the results of the 2022 referendums and the September elections.
The speaker indicated that the task has been set to ensure that the reunited regions achieve the all-Russian standard of living by 2030; everything must be done to ensure that this transition period does not drag on.
““We already have experience of integration of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, unique in world practice. We will definitely rely on it. We will also use the potential of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation, within whose structure there is a specialized commission on regional integration,” she concluded.
