Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia, Alexey Sazanov, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the authorities are considering the possibility of introducing excise taxes on all alcohol-containing products produced in the country , including medical alcohol, by 2024.
Sazanov noted that the tax period for excise taxes is one month, so the introduction of the tax may not necessarily occur on January 1, but later. Such an introduction is not planned for this year, but is possible next year.
It is expected that the implementation of this initiative will bring additional revenue to the budget in the amount of about 15-20 billion rubles. However, the timing of the introduction of excise taxes will depend on the development of a mechanism that will avoid increasing the cost of medicines, the Deputy Minister added.
