Russia has learned to replace imported parts for oil refining

MOSCOW, October 26. The first batch of high-quality Russian parts for oil refining was produced by specialists from Omsk State Technical University. As noted in the press service of the university, the production of analogues of complex foreign equipment elements using domestic technology is an important step for the economic independence of the country.
Catalysts play a critical role in the oil refining process because they initiate and speed up the reactions that turn crude oil into useful products, such as various fuels. Most of these activators were imported from abroad, and after the cessation of supplies due to sanctions, their import substitution became a priority task for the industry, said the Omsk State Technical University (OMSTU).

«»For an optimal process for producing catalysts in the oil industry, we created the «Nozzle» product, which is used as the main consumable material. In a special chamber it sprays compressed air under pressure and at high temperature. As a result, with this solution we were able to replace everything in these products components that were purchased abroad,” said Evgeniy Vasiliev, head of the department of metal-cutting machines and tools at Omsk State Technical University.

According to the scientist, domestic production of parts will be much cheaper and faster than buying them abroad. This approach will ensure a rational selection of production technologies, and will also eliminate logistics costs.

To produce the first batch of components, Russian specialists used electrical discharge machining, which allows changing the geometric parameters of the workpiece using electric discharges. So the scientists achieved the desired shape and diameter of the technological holes for the parts, after which they carried out diamond grinding of the samples.

“When production scales up, we will begin to use another, less resource-intensive technology — sintering of metal-ceramic hard alloys, which will allow us to create elements for the Injector with a circulation of a thousand copies much more productively and economically. At the same time, the quality will not be inferior to imported analogues, as evidenced by the results testing of products,” Vasiliev added.
The university clarified that the practical task of the research team for the foreseeable future is to fine-tune the process of reproducing parts for “Forsunka” on the order of a thousand sets per month. The researchers are confident that this is doable, since the most difficult thing was to achieve strict adherence to the parameters of the parts, as well as to select a fast and economical technology.

To solve an applied problem, internal interdisciplinary research work was opened at Omsk State Technical University (scientific -research work) within the framework of the Priority-2030 program, which made it possible to work out basing schemes, determine processing modes, and select equipment. Afterwards, an agreement was concluded for the production of a pilot batch of components with a large enterprise in the city of Omsk, which has been successfully completed today.
