The Central District Military Court sentenced a resident of the city of Alatyr in Chuvashia to 4 years and six months in prison on charges of preparing a terrorist attack. The regional department of the FSB reported this to the republican publication “About the City of Cheboksary.”
The 21-year-old man will spend part of his punishment in prison, and the rest of the term in a maximum security colony.
The convicted person’s name is Alexey Sedoykin, discovered the “Angry Chuvashia” telegram channel. In November 2021, a resident of Alatyr was added to the list of Rosfinmonitoring, which lists those accused of terrorism. Sedoykin was sentenced in May, and in October the decision was upheld by the Military Court of Appeal.
According to the FSB, Sedoykin “made three incendiary devices” in the fall of 2021 and hid them in the forest, planning to set fire to “an administrative building in city of Alatyr,” but he was detained (part 1 of article 30, part 1 of article 205 of the Criminal Code). The intelligence service explains Sedoykin’s motives by saying that he “shared the ideology <…> «Right Sector».
The FSB directorate for the neighboring republic of Mari El, whose officers detained Sedoykin, claims that the administrative building, of which he is accused of preparing the arson, belonged to “law enforcement agencies.” An acquaintance of Sedoykin was also fined 40 thousand rubles in September on charges of “non-reporting” (Article 205.6 of the Criminal Code). His name was hidden in the Yoshkar-Ola City Court file.
