Moldova denounced 29 agreements with the CIS in 2023

CHISINAU, 27 Oct. Moldova in 2023 denounced 29 agreements with the CIS and began the procedure for terminating another 70 agreements, head of the government press service Daniel Vodă said on Friday.
«During 2023, our country completed the necessary legal procedures, through which 29 agreements signed within the CIS were denounced. At the moment, the authorities have identified more than 100 agreements concluded within the CIS, which do not bring benefits to citizens, currently Legal procedures have been launched to denounce 70 of these treaties,” Voda said at a briefing.

According to him, at the beginning of 2023, the authorities began to analyze the agreements concluded within the CIS. During the audit, government agencies examine each individual agreement.

«This is a complex and painstaking process, which is adopted by the authorities taking into account the relevance of the documents for the citizens of our country. All denounced agreements are of no benefit and are useless for the citizens and institutions of our country,» Voda emphasized.
According to the State Register of Treaties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the beginning of 2023, Moldova was a party to 282 international treaties concluded within the CIS.
The Moldovan authorities have been talking since last year about the need to denounce a number of agreements with the CIS. The ministries intend to analyze all agreements with the CIS and denounce those that have become “ineffective”, hoping to replace them with bilateral agreements with countries that are members of the Commonwealth.
