
MOSCOW, Oct. 26 Presidential Press Secretary Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov explained that head of state Vladimir Putin uses the term “holy land” because that is what it is called, because shrines are located there.
The President held a meeting with Russian religious leaders on Wednesday evening. He said that the situation in the Middle East also concerns Russia; the country is following with alarm and pain the events in the holy land, which has sacred significance for Christians, Muslims and Jews.
“Because we call it that, because there are shrines for canonical religions on that land, that’s why it’s holy,” Peskov said, answering the question why the president used the term “holy” at this meeting earth.»
