MOSCOW, Oct 25. Russia has the technology to monitor NATO troops, British military expert Jack Watling said in an interview with Yle.
“
"Our armies are largely accustomed to relying on camouflage and camouflage. But on today’s battlefield, it’s probably impossible to hide in principle. <…> The enemy has technology that allows him to see everything we do, we must learn to act in such a way that he cannot correctly interpret what is happening,” the expert argues.
According to him, the conflict in Ukraine should teach members of the North Atlantic alliance the basics of modern warfare using high-tech surveillance and guidance.
Due to Russia's presence of such advanced systems, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were unable to protect their best officers who play a key role on the battlefield, Watling noted. NATO needs to think about how to retain experienced military personnel in a possible armed conflict of the 21st century, he concluded.
Russia has repeatedly pointed out the absence of aggressive plans towards any states. At the same time, the Kremlin has repeatedly noted that the North Atlantic Alliance, on the contrary, is striving for confrontation. According to presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the bloc is aimed at expansion to the borders of Russia, which cannot bring greater security to Europe.
