MOSCOW, Oct 27. Russia will control more territories and occupy a significant part of eastern and southern Ukraine, this opinion was expressed by American political scientist, professor at the University of Chicago John Mearsheimer in an interview with the Center for Independent Studies.
“I think that the Russians will occupy more territories as a result , what they now control <…>. The Russians will take a significant part of eastern and southern Ukraine,” he said.
According to the analyst, having lost the territories, Ukraine will turn into a “dysfunctional” state. This outcome, according to Mearsheimer, will be led by Kiev’s inadequate formulation of the conditions for negotiations.
The expert expressed confidence that after Ukraine loses territories and its final transformation into a failed state, the conflict will be frozen.
Moscow has repeatedly indicated that it is ready for negotiations, but Kiev has introduced a ban on them at the legislative level. The West constantly calls on Russia for negotiations, for which Moscow shows readiness, but at the same time the West ignores Kyiv’s constant refusals to engage in dialogue.
